  1. Microsoft Win32s Extensions

  4. Win32s is a software package developed by Microsoft to complement
  5. the Windows 3.1x environment, by enabling 32-bit applications to
  6. run under it.
  7.  
  8. LView Pro is a 32-bit application that will run under Microsoft
  9. Windows 3.1x, provided that Win32s extensions, version 1.30 or
  10. newer are installed.

  13. Making sure that you need Win32s 1.30
  14.  
  15. You need Win32s 1.30 if:
  16.      1.   You are running Windows 3.1, 3.11 or Windows for
  17.           Workgroups **NOT** Windows NT or Windows 95.

  19.      2.   You have not installed Win32s, or you have a version of
  20.           Win32s that is much older than 1.30.
  21.  
  22.      3.   If you are not sure, try to run LView Pro - if it fails
  23.           to run, you probably need Win32s 1.30.

  27. Installing Win32s 1.30
  28.  
  29.      1.   Use File Manager to create a new (empty) directory on
  30.           your hard disk.  the menu command is FILE|Create
  31.           Directory.  We'll refer to that directory as C:\W32TEMP
  32.           in the following steps.

  34.      2.   Copy W32130.EXE from the CD to your C:\W32TEMP on your
  35.           hard drive.
  36.  
  37.      3.   From either File Manager or Program Manager, select the
  38.           menu item FILE|Run.
  39.  
  40.      4.   Type in C:\W32TEMP\W32130.EXE, as the command line,
  41.           then click on OK.

  43.      5.   You will hear your hard disk spin, while W32130.EXE
  44.           creates 3 subdirectories and about 100 files.
  45.  
  46.      6.   When W32130.EXE is done creating files, it will execute
  47.           the Win32s setup application.  At this point, Win32s
  48.           Setup will take over and install Win32s 1.30.
  49.  
  50.      7.   When Win32s Setup is done,you will be prompted to
  51.           restart Windows.
  52.  
  53.      8.   After Windows restarts, use File Manager to delete the
  54.           directory C:\W32TEMP and all its files and
  55.           subdirectories.  Your system will then be ready to run
  56.           LView Pro.
